How long does it take to settle a personal injury case?
Clients often ask us, “How long is it going to take to settle my personal injury lawsuit in Orlando?” Unfortunately, there’s no exact answer to that question. Some cases can settle within days, weeks, or months. Other cases can take years to resolve. All that depends on the type of case, the extent of the injuries, how much medical treatment that you’re going to need, how much insurance coverage is available, and who’s on the other side of your case.
All of that goes into factoring how long it might take to settle a case. On average, we try to settle all cases out of court if we can. That can take a few months. If the other side – the company or the insurance company – won’t make a fair offer, then we have to file a lawsuit. Once that lawsuit’s filed, on average, it takes anywhere from six months to a year and a half to either get the case settled or to get to a jury trial to have a jury decide that matter.
